Fri 30 Sep 2022On Tuesday 4 October we will be holding our Harvest Celebration in church at 2.00pm. Parents are invited to join us for this. Each class will be taking part by singing a song or reciting a poem.
For our Harvest Appeal this year, we are asking parents to donate the following items to the Stroud Foodbank:

Holiday Free School Meals Vouchers Scheme
Fri 23 Sep 2022This October half term, Gloucestershire County Council is providing vouchers to eligible families who have signed up to our Holiday Free School Meals (FSM) scheme. These vouchers are provided by Gloucestershire County Council as part of its commitment to ‘no child goes hungry’. The vouchers are funded through grant funding we have received and is separate to that of the term time free school meals.
The scheme is for children in reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals and attend a school in Gloucestershire. We are unable to consider college and sixth form students as well as children who receive universal free school meals, as they are not eligible for this scheme
Families who have signed up to the scheme will receive £15 per child, for the week half term.
Parents who have signed up previously do not need to re-register, they will already have been included. To ensure we reach all those who are eligible, we are encouraging parents that have not previously signed up, to sign up as soon as they can.
If you have a child beginning reception this year and you would like to add to your existing application of the scheme, please get in contact by emailing childrensfund@gloucestershire.gov.uk so that we may update your details, as this is not an automatic process.
Applications for Holiday Free School Meal Vouchers for the October half term period are now open until the 11 October. Voucher emails will be sent out on 19 October. Please encourage parents to also check their junk/spam email folders during this period as sometimes the vouchers end up there. If parents have not received their vouchers by the 19 October please encourage them to get in contact with us by emailing childrensfund@gloucestershire.gov.uk.
For more information and to sign up if you haven't already, please visit our website - Holiday School Meal vouchers.

Heat Wave
Sun 17 Jul 2022Extreme Heat Warning
You will be aware that a warning has been issued regarding the predicted extremely high temperatures for Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July. In the light of this, we took the decision last Thursday to recommend that parents collect their children at 1.00pm on these days, as the temperature in the afternoons has soared on recent very hot days. If you are not able to collect your children early, please call the school office in the morning on (01453) 762774, or message the class teachers via See Saw before 8.00am.
Below is some information and. advice that the Department for Education has issued
Health risks from heat
Children cannot control their body temperature as efficiently as adults during hot weather because they do not sweat as much and so can be at risk of ill-health from heat. Heat- related illness can range from mild heat stress to potentially life-threatening heatstroke. The main risk from heat is dehydration (not having enough water in the body). If sensible precautions are taken children are unlikely to be adversely affected by hot conditions, however, teachers, assistants, school nurses and all child carers should look out for signs of heat stress, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
Heat stress
Children suffering from heat stress may seem out of character or show signs of discomfort and irritability (including those listed below for heat exhaustion). These signs will worsen with physical activity and if left untreated can lead to heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
Heat exhaustion
Symptoms of heat exhaustion vary but include one or more of the following:
- tiredness
- dizziness
- headache
- nausea
- vomiting
- hot, red and dry skin
- confusion
Heatstroke
When the body is exposed to very high temperatures, the mechanism that controls body temperature may stop working. Heatstroke can develop if heat stress or heat exhaustion is left untreated, but it can also occur suddenly and without warning.
Symptoms of heatstroke may include:
- high body temperature – a temperature of or above 40°C (104°F) is a major sign of heatstroke
- red, hot skin and sweating that then suddenly stops
- fast heartbeat
- fast shallow breathing
- confusion/lack of co-ordination
- fits
- loss of consciousness
Actions to protect children suffering from heat illness
The following steps to reduce body temperature should be taken immediately:
- Move the child to as cool a room as possible and encourage them to drink cool water (such as water from a cold tap).
- Cool the child as rapidly as possible, using whatever methods you can. For example, sponge or spray the child with cool (25 to 30°C) water – if available, place cold packs around the neck and armpits, or wrap the child in a cool, wet sheet and assist cooling with a fan.
- Dial 999 to request an ambulance if the person doesn’t respond to the above treatment within 30 minutes.
If a child loses consciousness, or has a fit, place the child in the recovery position, call 999 immediately and follow the steps above until medical assistance arrives.
