Admissions
The Rosary has places in its Reception class and in several classes throughout the school, and will welcome any families who would like their children to attend the school. Please email the headteachers [head@rosary.gloucs.sch.uk] to arrange a visit to see the school in action, or for any further information.
The Rosary is proud both of its Christian principles and of the welcome it affords every year to pupils from different backgrounds, all of whom are valued for what they bring to the school.
If you are hoping for a place in next year’s Reception class, starting in September 2024, full details are found below (section number 1), with links to important information. This process is managed both by the school and by Gloucestershire County Council.
If you are thinking of an In-Year admission, starting at any time between now and the end of the school year in July, please email the school for information and an appointment. There is further information about the process below, at section number 2.
The Rosary Catholic Primary School was founded over 150 years ago, to provide education for children of Catholic families in Stroud. Currently, around 35% of our pupils are baptised Catholics; we therefore have space to welcome non-Catholic pupils too.
One of our five school values is inclusivity, and we live this value through welcoming families from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and other faiths or no faith. In fact, we take great pride in being a diverse and multicultural community and appreciate the opportunities this brings to learn to be respectful of and celebrate our differences.
Our Christian ethos is central to school community, and many families choose us specifically for this. However, we are also distinct in other ways, including our convenient location right in the heart of Stroud, great transport links, on-foot access to many local educational resources, and our extensive grounds and facilities, including nature areas.
Categories of Application
1. September 2024 applications to Reception class for pre-school age children.
More information can be found on our Reception Admissions 2024 school webpage.
Reception class applications have a series of important dates set by Gloucestershire County Council (GCC). Full details, including the GCC application form, are available here. The deadline for applications for places at any Gloucestershire primary school is midnight on 15th January 2024.
If there are more applications than places available, allocations will be made in accordance with the oversubscription criteria listed in the Admissions 2024-25 policy.
2. Pupils who have started their primary education elsewhere and are now looking to move school.
More information can be found on the In-Year Admissions school webpage.
The school must follow a Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) process for addressing in-year admissions. Full details including the GCC application form, are available here. You will be asked to send the completed form directly to your chosen school, and we will let you know within (a maximum of) 10-15 days if a place is available.
