Meet the Rosary School Governors

Mrs Lizzie Dawkins

Appointed as: Chair, Foundation Governor

Appointed by: Bishop, Clifton Diocese

Current term of office began: 1 April 2016

Current Term of Office Ends: 31 March 2020

Additional info: I have an historical link to the Rosary School as a former pupil, and have been actively involved with the school since my children started here, initially as a volunteer and in the PTA, before becoming a governor in 2012.  I have a strong belief in the value of education, and want to encourage our children to embrace their learning.  After completing my GCSEs a long time ago, I moved to Texas in the US and did a year of high school before returning home and attending University.  During my career in the hospitality industry, I became qualified in training, assessment and further learning.

As part of my role I completed the 'Chair of Governors Leadership Development Programme' in collaboration with the NGA & NCTL in 2015.

Mrs Maeve Maxwell

Current term of office ends: 24 November 2019

Additional info: I am a former pupil of The Rosary School and also chose The Rosary School for my daughter. Education matters hugely to me and so I consider myself fortunate to have spent my career, to date, working in primary, secondary, special and further education.  It is very important to me that children enjoy their time at school; using it as a springboard into a fulfilling life in which they utilise their skills and talents to the full.

Additional info: I am a retired engineer and former pupil of the school (1955 - 1960). I am married and have been for nearly 45 years. I have four adult daughters and six grandchildren (three girls and three boys) - three of which grandchildren are adopted. I am deeply involved with and have just retired, after six years, as chair of the Stroud & District Athletic Club. Prior to that I was club secretary for 12 years. I also enjoy woodturning, woodworking and photography as hobbies.

Mrs Monica Marshfield

Appointed as: Co-opted Governor

Appointed by: The Governing Body

Current term of office began: 18 January 2017

Current term of office ends: 17 January 2021

Committees: Standards

Additional info: I have one child currently attending the Rosary School, and work part-time for a telecoms company in Stroud.  Being a governor in my spare time provides me with the opportunity to give something back to the school in the form of advice and support, utilising the knowledge and experience I have gained in my 25+ years in business.  Both my children have enjoyed their time at the Rosary School, and it is a pleasure to see how the school is helping them to become rounded individuals ready to take on the next stage of their education.  The school is a special place, but as in any organisation there are always ways in which improvements can be made, and I enjoy playing my part in helping the school to identify areas for development and also assisting in their implementation.
