Children from Years 2-6 have the opportunity to serve the school as part of the Chaplaincy Team. Anyone can join and members are commissioned during a special ceremony, where they receive their Chaplaincy Team Badge and contract from Bishop Declan at Clifton Cathedral.

The Chaplaincy team play a vital role in the Spiritual life of the school and are supported by the R.E. Co-ordinator Mrs O'Doherty

The Chaplaincy Team have many important roles such as:

  • Helping the school to be a community of faith.
  • Encouraging the pupils to remember their faith in daily living.
  • Developing good relationships within and beyond the school community.
  • Writing and presenting whole school assemblies.
  • Planning and leading key stage/whole school collective worship.
  • Assisting in the organisation of school masses and liturgies.
  • Helping plan and lead charity events.
  • To continue to develop strong links with the Parish.

 Chaplaincy Team News

September 2017

Once again we have had an overwhelming response to this year’s chaplaincy team. Unfortunately we had to whittle this down to only 1 boy and girl from each class! However we felt that we would make an except to this rule in year 6. As many of the applicants are previous members and are familiar with the roles of the chaplaincy team, we felt it would be a great opportunity for them to share their knowledge and experience with the newer members and adopt a 'training' role within the group.

Congratulations to the following children who have been appointed as Chaplaincy Team members this year.

Y2: Emily Amor & Archie Gittins

Y3: Olympia Johnson & Joseph Williams

Y4: Nicole Hudson & Owen King

Y5: Zuzanna Denis & Thomas McKinley-Price

Y6: Maya Williams, Taryn Hopkins, Sofie Taubert, Eoin Johnson,

      James Cutting & Joe Beadle.

Christian Mindfulness & Meditation

Exciting things are happening within the Chaplaincy team already. The wonderful Mrs Jenkins will be running Christian mindfulness and meditation sessions with each class in KS2 until half term. After which Year 5 & 6 chaplaincy members will be receiving some special training  to help them deliver the sessions across the school, with the aim of improving focus and concentration among pupils, as well as providing the children with important life skills on how to alleviate anxiety.

Mrs Jenkins is a Catholic school chaplain with experience in a number of schools, as well as being a trained Positive Psychology Practitioner. The programme includes activities that have been shown to improve well being in children. The sessions will include mindfulness and breathing exercises, as well as guided meditations based on scripture and music. See for further details.

October 2017

Our chaplaincy pupils will be joining children from other Catholic schools in Gloucestershire for training at St Peter's Primary School in Gloucester on 10th October.
